engine temp?
Ok so it might be nothing but it might be something big, yesterday my I noticed my jeep was running just a little above normal operating temp when left idling. I didn't pay it much mind as it quickly corrected itself. But today is when I got worried, I was driving around all day and the operating temp never rose above what I assume is the 150 mark. Has anyone ever had this problem before? And where should I start while trying to pinpoint this problem.

The "target" temp for the 4.0 engine is a consistent 200-210.
Helps to "confirm" your temp by pointing an infrared point and shoot thermometer directly at the thermostat housing.
If your temp is above or below by much, you need to diagnose why and repair.

I'll check the temp later today but I went out to wilmington earlier and it ran cold the whole way there and back. But when it sits and idles it'll warm up to 210. But on the beach and in the highway it ran cold the while time.

Like everyone has said previously, it should be between 200-210 degress normally using a 195 degree thermostat. Setting at idle for an extended period of time will cause the temps to go up, but should come back down after reving the engine or driving down the road.
If you're thermostat is stuck open it will run cooler than normal. Also if you're coolant level is too low the coolant sensor will not heat up like it should. Coolant level can even get so low that you won't get any warm air from your heater. Have you checked the coolant level in the radiator lately?
Another cause could be a problem with the Temperature Sending Unit. They can give intermittant readings before completely failing. You can simply search the net and find intructions for testing the coolant sensor.
Hopefully some of this helps.
