Default Engine sometimes not starting

If I turn the key ignition, sometimes I hear a "tick" but doesn't start. Usually if I try again, it starts without any troubles. But the problem seems to be getting worse, i.e. having to turn the ignition more often.

How can I fix this?

Is your starter soaked in oil due to leaking oil filter adapter seals?

From the top it looks just a little bit wet, but from the bottom it can be seen that it is pretty soaking.

1, 2 and 3 are covered in oil and at the oil filter you can see a drop hanging (see arrow).

Might be a badly installed filter, might be more, no?

Wipe it off and run it.

I'm leaning toward oil filter adapter seals.

Take it over to Roler's. He'll fix it for you.

Most likely Roler will be at least 2000km away, Im in the Cairns area!

Those seals are generic? I can get them in every shop?

Oh and another thing I forgot to tell. I just topped it up with 15W40 without knowing what the previous owner used. I figured 15W40 mixing with 10W40 would go to 12W40 Could that be the problem?

Yes.

Mixing oils will not cause a leak and is a non-issue.

Great! I will fix it when I have the parts.

What can I do in the meantime? How can I clean the starter? Degreaser would not be a good idea, right?
