Engine oil flushing
Today at work myself and a few other guys were talking about different methods of flushing your engine. One likes the amsoil flush, another likes having the Wynnn's flush system, another an "old timer" says he always did the throw 2 quarts of tranny fluid in the crank case run for 15 20 minutes then drain and replace filter-new oil.
whats your method?
and cost ?
can you do it at home or take it to a shop?

Definately a good dose of snake oil. Squeeze two medium Garters out completly, and a dash of Mississauga Rattler. Run immediatly for minimum of 10 miles. Drain and Refill. That snake oil is always a cure all. Or just change your oil and filter regularly, it will clean itself up.

Unless your engine is really gunked up, an oil flush is NOT necessary. Remove the valve cover and what you see will quickly tell the story.
If you are concerned about prior maintenance, frequent oil changes with good oil and a good filter will slowly and safely clean your engine.
BTW, I have heard of using 1 quart of ATF, but I would never use 2.

changing the oil but not the filter with trans fluid is doable for a couple days of driving as trans fluid is high detergent Any flush will affect sludge which may be sealing a gasket or holding pressure to a lifter your question should be whether to or not
