Default Empty fuel indicator

Hello All,

I am a new owner of Jeep Cherokee 4.0 95 model which I bought last week... Anyhow I have one question.

The "empty fuel indicator (orange light)" is turning on and and off irregularly even if there are fuel left (currently about 1/4 of the tank left...).

This only started happening today after I picked up the car from the dealer. Timeline/Storyline is as follows:

1. Picked up the car from the dealer last week
2. Returned to dealer as found out electric window+mirrors+room light+central locking were out.
3. Picked up and all was fixed but returned again as Dashboard was out (i.e. needles on rpm, speed, fuel, volt, oil didnt move)
4. Picked up again today, Dashboard was fixed (said fuse was out) but now the bloody petrol gauge "empty" orange light turns on and off irregularly!! (this didnt happen before...)

Can someone help me out please? Quite sick and tired of going back and forth to the dealer......

Thanks in advance!!!

Best regards,
Jay

its telling you that the fuel level is getting low, when it stays on all the time its time for fuel ,in other words thats normal.

Right... I still need to try filling up to full tank, but I did fill up about 20litres, and it still happens (and read fuel tank capa is about 75 litres...)

Still normal?

2 xs that. Jeeps have a major floater in the tank. It comes on when you hit the gas hard or turn.

gosh, guess I really have a lot to learn about these cherokees then!

my last car was VW golf (rabbit in the states?) and i've never seen an empty fuel light, unless tank totally bottomed out...

Mine starts to flicker at about 1/4 tank and stays on more as it gets lower.

mine is sporadic, but same issue, about 1/3 tank it begins going on and off with braking/accelerating. Dealer told me it also indicates where your fuel consumption is getting worse. No sure how that works, but I know where empty is and just ignore it if I'm not close to there. One of those Jeep things we all just learn to deal with.
