Emergency! Need Help!
A buddy of mine had me come rescue him a couple weeks ago. His car (1987 BMW) was doing the exact same thing after he had driven it around a while. Turned out to be vapor lock. I iced down his fuel line by the fuel rail and it fired right up. When we got him home I replaced the fuel filter for him ( He's disabled ) and thrw a can of seafoam with some fresh fuel in it and he hasn't had an issue since. Just something to look at if you haven't already.
Forgot to add-- If you think it's vapor lock, HEET in the RED bottle has alcohol in it and that will help remove the water if it's in your tank and lines.

I heard the later 99-2001 XJ's had a heat soak issue that would basically Boil the fuel in the injectors effected which is they had an upper heat shield or insulator. But I think that was more evident upon starting...
Ah forget it!! Toss parts at it, put a few bills into the oil fill hole and gas tank, it'll eventually work!

Fuel pressure is fine. Within operating norms. Ran the codes again and got them down from 6 to 3. Code is for injector 3 and injector 3 wiring. Changing all of the injectors this weekend. And then I'll check the wires and codes after that.
x2. I do work at a refinery I have some insight as to the actual end products that come out and go to the stations. Sometimes, for some blends they can be a little less than expected especially from some unmentioned stations. Oh and no, just because fuel is produced in one refinery does not mean that ALL the fuel from that refinery is up to the same standards. Different blends and standards for whoever the refinery is producing for. Fuel is made for multiple companies in the same refinery and even though it is all made in one major name refinery, the requirements/standards vary as to what is acceptable per brand of fuel. That being said, I only trust two brands of fuel and I refuse to put any "discount" fuel into my vehicles. The octane rating is not always as advertised and they usually do not have the same detergents and additives or quality of additives as the name brand fuel so they burn a little dirtier. In the end, YES fuel can/does contain 10% ethanol/methanol however by the time it gets to you the fuel is pretty much loaded up with junk and lesser fuels just add to the mess.
