If you directly wire the fan to the battery with jumper wires and the fan does not run, it is a bad fan (motor).
This bypasses any a/c switches or relays.

Cooling-fan is someting you should not have to think about. It should just work.
Wiring a switch makes no sense. You will forget to switch it "on", or forget to switch it "off"... not to mention all the extra wiring and switch to fail.
All you really need to do is get the system working properly again.
Fan --> fan fuse --> fan relay --> fan temp switch
Fan: give it power and ground from the battery to see if it runs
Fan fuse: pull it, check it
Fan relay: relays are cheap... just get a new one
Fan temp switch: should "close" at 210-215... you will need a DVOM or a test light to test if the switch closes at-temperature.

The temp switch is usually the cause but not always. I by passed mine and put it on a switch. Your relay might be different but I tapped the relay at the no. 2 terminal (orange wire) and ran it to a switch. Then ran power and ground to the switch. Works fine for me. Although it is good piece of mind to have the whole system working properly in case you forget.

its just a trailer rig.
so i mean do i need to wire it to the relay or could i like wire it positive to the battery and negative to a switch?
im not good with wireing

A relay handles the load in the circuit.
The actual current path will be shorter and the system will be more reliable than with a switch alone... that's why manufacturers use them. You can put a relay right next to the fan and the wiring will be very short between the source and fan.
Longer wires = more current loss. Current loss is proportional to wire-length. You want the fan to have the full current available so it works it's best.
You can buy relay "kits" for installing an electric fan at the parts store... they work really well, and they have everything you will need.
Don't forget to use a fuse.
Here's a handy diagram of the terminals on a Bosch relay (industry standard):
I would make one change... instead of "ignition switch" power, I would use power from the ASD relay circuit. Then the fan would only work when the engine is actually running, not just whenever the key is on. ASD power can be had from the ASD relay in the PDC.
If you really want to have a switch, break the "ground" side of the relay circuit with a SPST toggle switch on the dash. For a trail-only rig, I wouldn't even use a switch... I would wire it to the ASD and let it run.
