2 problems with that fan

1. it is flipping huge. i think it measures like 20in or something like the. I hangs down far below the radiator and buildin a shroud is kinda difficult. but if you arae guna run an after market tranny cooler it hangs below the radiator almost the perfect amount to tuck one in there

2. They have like a constant 50 amp draw. jeeps stock alt is 90 amps. 60% of your charging system just to run a fan is a ton. Worst part about it is when i bench test it it had an almost 100 amp start up draw. 100 amp is a ton, hard to find relays with that high of rating.

e-fan, you will stay super cool but i wasnt guna take the hit to my electrical system to run it.
Thanks for clearing me up on that. I never knew that the taurus fan has such an amp draw or anything like that. I found another article from a guy who bought a high performance 16" electric fan and modded the shroud to fit it. Then he had the local jeep dealer hook up a second relay for it. He reported it worked well. I dunno, I might just swap out the old electric fan and put one from a '97 in it.

Either way anyone chooses to do this (keep the mech fan or drop in a new electric fan), cant you just field test it? And then if youre not happy or something doesnt feel right just put the old fan back in?

Also, no matter what fan setup you run if your cooling system is gunked up its not gonna be very effecient.

I've been having some recent cooling issues in my 96 xj (stock cooling system) but I think I found the answer. The inline 6 engine runs very hot and jeep didn't do a great job by putting a single row radiator in to handle the heat. So I ordered a new CSF three row heavy duty radiator that should help keep the heat down. Also thinking about the electric fan mod but not sure what I can fit in there after the new radiator goes in. Has anybody else gone with a three row radiator?
