It is.
Did you pull out the red tab that I believe is on there so you could pull apart the connector?
Also pressing down on the tab that I also believe to be there?
Also 20 years of being connected could also make it a little harder.
Just have to work at it.
The screws with the loops that the overflow hose goes through are all that is bolting it on.
But there are tabs at the bottom with spring clips.
So once you take care of everything up top best to crawl under there and squeeze them with a pair of pliers.
And push up from the bottom.
You could bust one of those tabs if you don't.
Ask me how I know. LOL.
or if you get a non-mopar replacement because money doesn't grow on trees in your neighbourhood.... you might not need the clips for the next one....ask ME how I know...lol
50 bucks on eBay and was a darn near perfect fit to the OEM... The tabs on the bottom of mine were thick enough that the original clips weren't needed.
And so far so good..
tip....when you reconnect it, put a dab of dielectric grease in there to keep corrosion out from possible moisture over time.
I broke that tab about 7 years ago when I first got the Jeep and had to put in a radiator.
Or maybe it was already broken.
Not knowing how it was set up I just yanked it up.
I glued it back on but putting it in it would break again.
So I started sticking the tab in the slot and gluing it to the fan when it place.
It would hold till the next time I would pull the fan.
That went on for a while.
When I did the water pump last year said screw it and bought an Ebay special for about $45 I think.
Seems to run fine and what I liked about it was that it got rid of those clips.
Instead of the tabs being flat they are wedged.

thanks for the help I was in a hurry and got pissed off so I figured I'd ask first instead of dick around forever
and I took the top bolts out and they just snapped
I probably should not have used the word bolts.
More like screws that go into those metal clip nut things.
If you are going to bust stuff thinking there is one of the best places to do it.
I did not know that... as I don't have any spring clips. It would explain the slight looseness.
Well fb97xj1 posted some part numbers for replacements but I wonder how necessary they really are.
I have come to think that many things are done more for manufacturing purposes.
So connectors don't come apart while the car is going down the line.
Things stay in position till bolted in.
Things like that.
