well this has gotten a little off but i guess that was expected...
not that this is the place to discuss but weve allready gone past "friends" a few times and im in a pretty predicament with my current unhappy relationship but anyway...
so back to topic, ill be taking off the head tomorrow, I totally didnt understand that hydralic lifters meant theres not cam shaft sprocket and chain/belt like im used to dealing with. so its way easy to pull the head on these. I'll see whats going on and go from theyre.
Question: if it "fried" the rings like i think would that destroy the cylinder walls and need honed out or could I just put new rings in? and while at it connecting rod bearings, gasket set, mby rebuild the head if its not cracked. All the parts are pretty cheap.
If the block does need bored and the head should be resurfaced how much does that cost on the cheap side at a shop?
I think thats would be cheaper and last longer than getting a used engine and honestly doing all this is good cause im building a mechanic portfolio and I love the experience!
thanks for inputs

well i am new to the jeep world, but i have rebuilt a big block a time or two, so the first thing i did was get a manual, a good manual will save your butt. If the cylinder walls r not to far gone then a good honing and some new rings might save it. do not skimp out on the gaskets, get a good set you only want to do it once. and get a new time chain sense u r in there. well good luck and let us know how it gos.

Guess it's tough to do the dry/wet compression test when you have already added oil.
You might "ridge ream & hone". If you have it bored you're talking new oversize pistons, then you "knocked over the first domino".
