This is in regards to my earlier thread about what the 4wd indicator switch is called.
After much research and help from members, I am pretty sure my '91 XJ with the NP231 and disco Dana 30 has the vacuum indicator switch that illuminates my 4wd light.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out where to go and what to do. I need to locate this switch first. Is it located on the t-case itself? I found something with what looks like 3 ports (but very possible wires going to it for the speedo) in it:

OR
Is it located in the disco housing itself, as is circled in red in this picture?

I appreciate any help here. I also think that finding the solution to my no 4x4 light problem will also lead to the solving of the very small vacuum leak that I experience when I am under load and the vacuum ball fails to do its job.
Btw, seperate topic, I plan to get USAlloy axles for my current Dana 30 and a Chrysler 8.25 I will purchase when I do my V8 swap. The axle for the D30 is one piece with the disco elimination. What will I do about the 4x4 light?
(and yes, I am VERY **** in regards to everything working on my rig. I know it's kinda OCD, but when these little things fail to work, they annoy me very much so.... except that buzzer for the doors. I removed that already lol.)

Am I right on the switch being that location? Just found a post from the depths of CF with this picture referring to the vacuum switch.

More Luck! This is a photo with an SYE installed and a new switch location in the tailcone. This is the stock unit:

Should just screw out correct? I'll just yank it out tomorrow and see... or attempt to. Maybe a little PB around the outside wont hurt.
In any case, can these vacuum switches be cleaned? Or is it usually a "failed, replace" kinda deal?

I'm pretty sure mine had a fitting on it with a wire coming out like the one in the pic. I sprayed degreaser on the whole assembly so tomorrow I can spray more and scrub it off to check all the hoses. I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure.

Sure enough, I have an electronic on my CAD unit. Here's pics (sorry for crappy quality... phone camera sucks, and fat guy under a jeep = pressing):

So I tried bridging the holes on the little connector because supposedly it is the indicator light switch. Bridged them, turn the key to on, and no part time light. Put it in neutral and pulled through 4hi and 4lo, and still no light. I didn't think I needed to start it, so I just left it keyed in the on position. No light even with connector bridged.
What am I missing here? This is driving me mad. I can deal with the little bit of oil I burn, and the multiple autozone part failures I had to fix. I can deal with all of that. All I want is this damn light to come on when I'm in 4x4.

Already replaced it. That's what I did first. PITA if you ask me. It's a nightmare tryin to get the little blades of the socket to line up under that plastic circuit board type deal. I'm pretty sure I installed the bulb correctly. My CEL and Maintenance Required light still work.

Did I test the correct connector? From what I've researched, the collar in the CAD moves and contacts the switch, which in turn illuminates the part time light. As far as I know, I have no shorts. Wires on both the connector and plug looked good. I'm going to pull the cluster back out and make sure the bulb is correctly installed. Is there any direct way to test the part time light to make sure the printed circuit itself is fine?
