I have a Jeep that has been sitting for 2 years. What is the best way to drain the tank so I can put fresh gas in it to get it running so I can sell it?

u cant siphon it out of these tanks. you are going to have to drop the tank and pour it out which is a pain but its the only way that i know of.

That's kinda what I figured. Should I pull the schrader valve (or however it's spelled) to get fresh fuel in the lines before trying to start it?

Just did this myself. Unfortunally there is a baffle at the filler neck so you cant pour it out and the opening for the pump assembly is recessed so when you flip it over the hole is now the high spot still leaving fuel in the tank. Drop the tank and go purchase some type of cheap handheld pump. Thats the only way you are going to get it empty. Plus this will allow you to look at the pump and filter assembly. The screen on mine looked like it had been merinated in molassas so doing this was a win win for me. Mine had been sitting for almost 4yrs. so hopefully yours wont be as bad. I had to replace the fuel pump and filters.
And yes can pull the schrader valve to purge the lines of the old gas. Quick, easy, and certainly cant hurt anything.
I say this assuming yours is the same as mine which it may not be, sorry. Mine is a 97. Plan on replacing the bolts on the fuel tank straps as well. They have a nice little bend with a cap on the top but I just used some all thread rod with a couple nuts on the end and bent it to fit.

You can most definitely siphon the tank it is not fun or easy because of the way its designed but it is doable and I have had to do it on my 94 and my 98.

that idea would work great for a tank that has new gas in it. with gas that has been sitting it could clog up the pump and he would have to replace that. tyring pouring as much as you can out and leave the tank sit for a day with the hole for the pump open and the rest of the gas will evaporate out of the tank and will be dry the next day.

If I decide to part the Jeep out what would be good prices? 242 transfer case, automatic trans, axles, body parts.

How many miles are on it? What kind of axles? Just for a ballpark idea(what I would ask for these parts at around 150k mi) Xfer case$100-150, Trans $75-100, axles $100-150 each, Hood $50, fenders $30.
