Default driveshaft/SYE

I'm about to install my 6.5" lift and know I need an SYE kit so I think I decided on the RE kit. But I don't want to spend the money on a cv joint or axle. Could I put a ZJ driveshaft in and it be long enough?

That's the front drive shaft from a ZJ? And it will work in my rear?

Im about to do a hack n tap on my 98 with AW4, 231j and an 8.25. With 3 in of lift would a ZJ front driveshaft work? SOOOO much easier to find in the local yard.

For that height you really don't need the SYE or a longer driveshaft. Unless you plan on going higher.

My 3 inch lift netted about 3.5 and even with a 1in TC drop I had vibes, so I bought the hnt. I may go up to 4-4.5 when I replace my shackles. For whatever reason the drivetrain on my 98 didnt like the lift lol. Maybe the splines on the end of the slip yoke are boogered a litte but if Im going to look at that Id just as soon cut it off and not worry about it in the future.

But yeah I have read a lot of guys don't need a sye at 3-3.5 but my jeep hates me.

Here's a write up on a pre 96 t case. It mentions the difference in installation on a post 96 t case. Hope it helps some.
