driver side floorboard soaken wet
I live in Knoxville TN and its been raining a lot the past couple of days and when I got in my xj today after work my driver side floor board is soaked. Looks like it is coming from where it would be if the heater core was leaking but doesn't smell like antifreeze. Anyone have any ideas where it may be coming from? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Couple known places to leak...
1. Holes in floor (obvious) haha!
*2. Door seals that go around the body frame- mine leaks here!
3. I believe its where the heater core lines go through the firewall?
4. Windshield..as stated above
5. Any of the passages on the firewall where wiring/hoses/etc pass through

just redid my headliner while my son was using it with no headliner he got caught in the rain it was pouring in from the windshield. when the headliner was in since it has a fiberglass facing the water didnt penetrate it and ran down the plastic windshield pillar caps to the floor. there was a very small rust bubble on the roof right where the black windshield moulding meets the roof., bend that moulding back a bit and you will likely find youre problem, more rust and crap in there. i just scraped out what i could than rinsed it and caulked the entire windshield across and down the sides. not the correct way to do it but works for me

My drivers side floor in my 00 is always wet too. If your heater core is leaking it should be your passenger side that is wet.
Weird thing about my situation is up by the pedals is dry and the carpet tucked into the plastic around the door is seemingly dry. No holes in the floor the thing has 0 rust. It's like the water just appears there I swear. Same thing with my buddies 00.

That's how mine is dry at the same places but i can see where its coming down from the heater core area just haven't been able to get under there and look cause of the weather. I know its not the heater core coolant is fine and the water doesn't smell like antifreeze.

if the windshields ever been replaced thats what it is. they always scrape the paint off when they do it, then it gets moisture behind it over the years, rusts and gets worse. but you wont see the rust until its really bad.
Not sure if it has been replaced but if it ever dries up here then I can put some good sealent on it till summer then I can check it out. Might try to pour some ospho around the seal to stop the rust if there is any before I seal it up.

Have you messed with your radio lately at all? Look about the passenger kick panel at where the antenna wire goes outside into the fender. If that grommit's out water will follow the wire right in under you carpet.
