Default Doing an SYE on a budget?

Any ways to do a budget SYE? The goal is to try and do an SYE for cheaper than RE's $200 kit.

Your shaft will be long enough, it has a slip joint in it, and lengthens pretty far.

I did the above ^^^ setup and it was around $250 for the SYE and the DS. It works so far. I have had it on now for 2 months.

This is what I did. $179 shipped for the kit, $22 for the axle shims, and $50 front shaft. Just be careful with PORC.

i have seen a homemade hack n tap method work

i dont have any part numbers, but they just got a yoke that fit on the stock output shaft, that could seal in the stock output seal, drilled and tapped a hole in the middle of the output shaft and bolted it down.

i opted for the h-d sye and stock front shaft though, and havent looked back

Turns out the drive shaft is holding up without any vibes (so far). I lifted the back and drove it around at 40~50 mph, no vibes to speak of. Still waiting to get on the highway and test it up to 80 to check for noise.

Checked for vibes at higher speeds, started getting noise at around 65 on the gauge... so actually like 71.

I have been looking for the same thing a cheap hack and tap set up. I have an 89 with the 231 TC. There are some many differant ways out there. Which ones are the best and easiest. What year and TC do you have?
