Does Universal Seat Belts mean Cherokee?
Hi,
So I'm looking to replace my 87 Cherokee driver side seat belts and its hard to find anything that lists those specifically. The closest I've come are a special order Quadratic product which has to order both driver and passenger for $170. When I look at other sites, the best that comes up say universal seat belts which say the fit MOST brands, but I can never get a positive or negative on cherokees. So the question is, do these universals work with the Cherokee? Or do I need to get these sepcial orders? (I'm not really interested in buying used parts for my safety equipment)

I found the problem already, trying to use the quadratic formula to purchase seat belts is not going to get you the best results. Your first step should be contacting Quadratec if you have not already.
You could probably find a good set up seat belts for a lot cheaper here on the forum in the part out section. I don't know a lot about seat belts, but they are pretty simple. If it passes a visual inspection and you can get them to lock up, is there anything left to fail catastrophically?

for catching my typo.
As for the used seat belts, I've done too much rock climbing to trust found "rope" even if it looks good. My own piece of mind will be for new purpose built seat belts.

I hear these places can rebuild seatbelts, but they can be pricey. But if you feel better having new belt material, then you may not have much a choice.

I would run used seat belts as long as they are in good working order and no cuts and tears.I see the unibody of the jeep folding long before a seat belt could break in a wreck.

Note from DJ
If you only need the latch side like I did for my ’88 I found out that the same general year GM cars latch belt was a perfect match.
If you are going to a junk yard measure the length of yours and take note of the bolt that it is held in place with so you have the proper tools with you for removal.
If you live in the rust belt areas take a breaker bar and a cheater pipe in case the bolt doesn’t want to come loose easy.
Remove on from the back seat area if it is the right length or passenger side, they will have less use.
