disk brake on 89 jeep cherokee
fantic there is a post just below what you wrote me back, did you read this at all?? If not could you? what he stated was that there is a rod that comes out of the switch and when he did a electrical ck it stayed on all the time like a light switch Just an example if you turn off a light switch it is off and in this case the boost pressure switch stayed on no matter what. if you read the post just below your answer then you will maybe be able to understand what i wrote I hope. you may of missed it. let me know and get back to me please. also my hubby said that what if this doesn't work? is the easiest way to get his brakes to non ABS? then he will just do the change if worse comes to worse. please read the other post tho. thanks i will wait to hear from you

I wish not to be rude, however this system is way too far out of their ability to repair and sould be taken to a good service garage to straighten it out.
Hey there, I read through this because I have dealt with that brake system a few too many times. I love your year model jeep but man I hate that brake system.... Either way I really hope you find an easy fix to it I earnestly do. I however always just brought the jeep in my shop removed the ENTIRE brake system, master, lines, pedal, pumps, everything except the axle parts (calipers etc). and replaced them with NON abs parts from a donor XJ at pull a part. It normally costs me around 80.00 a swap and takes me a good day to do it right. but the jeep always left my shop and stopped great. If you decide to attempt it feel free to give me a shout.

thanks i will ask my husband about your help I am sure he would really appreciate it, and he does want to know how to fix the brakes to make them non abs so if you know how to do this that is great i will get back to you, i am just upset that fantic isn't reading what i want him too, I asked him to read the part about the booster switch, and he hasn't answered me about this, i need to know about the booster switch so if fantic could be kind enough to read that part i wrote and not read about the codes that isn't an issue right now it is the booster switch so could someone read that part and get back to us

If the switch stays closed (on) you can try to unplug the connector from the switch to simulate open circuit (off). That should get the booster to work because the control unit thinks it is off. Just don't run it too long.
ok fantic,
stay with me ok LOL? i need you. he will try that and see what happens then if it isn't that he is thinking about going ahead and just redoing a whole new brake system, a regular one just doesn't really know how, there is a nice person here on the site who read my posts who is willing to help and will probably take him up on it that is very very nice, except husband just thought you take a new master cylinder? which doesn't make sense?

he said (my husband) that he took the booster switch and re put it on the jeep hoping to reset the computer? it didn't work, how can he tell if the booster switch is the problem? because there is no pressure in the accumulator,so the switch must be bad, how can he tell
fantic hope you read this thread soon, my husband says that most brakes systems are all alike, anyway that being said, he stated that he thinks that getting a new master cylinder would be all he needed as i stated earlier in that post, and he said all he would need to know is what kind of bolt pattern would he use to match up the firewall? now i need to know is this all true? if he unhooked all except getting new master cyl. and the new bolt pattern BINGO is it fixed??? it just bugs me and i am a women who knows not much about cars, truck, jeeps. ect...... but that sounds odd to me, I know he has to do more then just what he says. please reply soon so i can let him read your post. thanks again. silvia

I don't know the bolt pattern, what he is wanting to do is the traditional brake system swap. He would need more than just the master cylinder, the conventional vacuum booster, lines, everything from the normal xj brakes.
Changing only the master cylinder isn't going far.
thats what i thought about the master cylinder thing. anyway i want him to work on this jeep and just not lay here doing nothing he is laid off temp and has the time, he thinks it is drivable as is, no it inst not to me, anyway what i believe he did with the booster thing in post 50 was to put it back in and make the computer think that it is back in and it should work? is this true? if he takes out the booster switch like he said, then please explain carefully what he should do after that please fantic cuz he is making me insane and then i am making you poor people insane. answer me soon ok
also fantic if he did indeed do what you wrote in post 50 right, then if it didn't work what would be the next step? but first i need you to explain in detail what he is supposed to do in the post 50 he keeps talking about the computer thinking it is working or not? is this right? if not explain. how he can tell if the booster switch is working. also in the write up in olblues Bendix 9 brake system? it stated something that to ck the accumulator you must bleed it with the car off or else it will cause pressure problem that is dangerous. Ok that makes sense yet if it is off you cant tell if there is any pressure so how would you be able to tell if the accumulator is working? those are the issue's at hand.
how come nobody is answering me?? please dont quite give up ok thanks please read my post about the booster switch and the accumulator? how can you tell if the accumulator inst working? please help

If you want fantic to answer you then you need to be patient. He is in Italy and his time schedule is pretty crowded and not in sync with ours here in the US.
