My buddy is junking his Land Rover Disco and it has an 8.8 rear end. The track width is only half an inch wider. Disc brakes too.
Would this be a good candidate for a swap? If so what would be involved.
Mine is a 96 auto, ABS. I don't have a garage or shop so unless I dind someone to help it'll likely be a while before I can afford a shop to do it. Just trying to feel this out and get my dicks in a row, as soon as I figure out what ducks to get lol.
thanks for any input guys. He's gonna scrap it soon, so I'm gonna get it soon for cheap. If I can't do anything with it I'm sure someone can.

if its a rear leaf suspension set up like ours then it could be just as easy as unbolting and bolting that one in. if its got coil springs in the back then it will be alot more work as you have to weld in spring perches. are you 4x4? if so, the gear ratio in the rover has to be the same as your current one or you can't use 4x4 till you get matching gears too

Sounds like it may be better to trade it for an Explorer 8.8 maybe.
Being a Sterling it should be solid. Wonder what something like it's worth? Any ideas? Pumpkin is centered, coil setup.
I'd hate to just let it pass me by if I can trade it in for something I could use, maybe stoke out a fabber with mine for his or something.
Thoughts?

not worth the effort. dont know anyone that would be wanting that rear axle. save yourself the headache and just buy a 8.8
