Will steering knuckles from a non disco axle work on an axle with the disco housing?
Calipers different? Ball joints? Hub? Anything?
Or are they a direct swap?

they are the same. Hubs may be different internally, but bolt up the same.
Unless it's a REALLY old d30 with non-unit bearings, then i dunno

if my bad memory serves correct, there is a difference in unit bearings. but its because of the year gap. i thought i remember there being a difference between my 92 unit bearings and 89 unit bearings (both non-disco)

I know the older unit bearings are re-buildable & the newer ones aren't.Or at least Quadratec use to sell re-build kits for them. That could be the difference,if there is any.

yes the knuckles will fit.
i had to use my 90 disco knuckles on my 89 non disco axle only because the 89 knuckles had the bolt on brake caliper bracket which has a different spacing for my 90 calipers.
not sure how that may play out in your situation, but i'm sure there would be no difference between the 93 and your 87 knuckles.
jeep did however change the bearing units somewhere around 96 to a different spacing which requires different rotors due to the hat height.

not to thread jack but since were on the topic of older dana 30 brakes im trying to figure out what year housing i swapped in.... i have a 97 picked up a supposed 93 housing. i do not believe it is a 93 it has the external square plug and completely different brakes. i believe it has the bolt on caliper bracket. getting brake parts for this 30 is a pain because i dont know what year it is.... please help if you can.
