I just recently changed mine and got a smal roll of gasket material (the kind you cut out your self with an ezacto knife) and also used Gaskasinch to seal the gasket to the diff cover and once that dried I used Form-a-gasket to seal the diff back on the axle. Also put a dab of form-a-gasket on all the bolt threads as well just to seal any unwanted oil from coming throughn the threading. Best route I have found. Never had any issues either, Good luck!

ultra black rtv only. no need to spend the extra money or time removing the paper gasket.
i just use a cordless drill with a wire wheel to remove the old rtv. it's quick and easy.
if you're lucky, the old rtv will pull off clean.
