A couple weeks ago I noticed my Tcase and tranny pan looked a little wet, so i check the ATF levels, and they seemed to be a little low. I went to walmart and bought some ATF, Im pretty sure it was DEX something...but now i was checking my oil, filled the washer tank and just decided to check the atf as a routine, and the fluid is brownish red instead of that blood red it used to be. I smelled it, and it doesnt smell likes its really burnt, but than again, I dont know what burnt fluid really smells like. So im wondering, did I do something wrong here, or is this normal...Or should i start to gradually flush and change the filter?

DEX III for AW4's. It calls for DEX II, but II was replaced by III.
Did you mess with your TV cable?

Flush and replace.

Havent messed with the TV cable yet, but i was thinking about it to lower my shift points... Is this also a bad idea, i know its a common practice, but idk how XJs will respond

 

Just went to autozone and asked for the dexIII, turns out they dont make it anymore, they only have dexIV....
