Default DD trackbar replacement

Hello everyone.

My DW is getting even worse. I can't figure out what is wrong. My track bar on the unibody end has a very small amount of play. I'm thinking this could be it. What would be a good replacement? This is for my DD. I'll be lifting it 3inches in March/April. I'm thinking of ordering one off of rockauto. The MEVOTECH Part # MDS1235. I don't have a lot of money, but I still want to do it right. Any help or suggestions would be really nice.

What is the best way to remove the old trackbar? Cuttoff wheel, or PB Blaster+breaker bar?

Thanks

Rough Country sells one for $100 and it's adj. between 3"-5" of light. It looks pretty good to me.

RC Adj Track Bar for $58. I used this one and it works well and was crazy cheap (they also have RC QD Sway Bar links cheap).

May not work until you lift though, as it is longer than the stock one. Claims 4"+ but plenty of people have used this one with 3" and it works. I am at 4.25" and had to adjust it out quite a bit.

How bad do I need an adjustable track bar? I haven't seen a 3" complete kit with a track bar. I cant afford two trackbars and I cant afford the lift until tax time. I need to fix my DD because DD and icy roads don't go well together.

Well most of them are adj. but if you don't you can get a stock replacement from teamcherokee.com for around $50. Here's their link:

It also at around +30mph slightly pulls to the right. could this be another sign of a bad trackbar or something else?

Definitely. The track bar is what helps keep your front axle stable at higher speeds so that could really be a problem if you don’t replace it soon.

Well I have a stock track bar in good shape (no play) I'll sell ya cheap... I NEEDED a longer one as with 4.25" there wasn't quite enough metal to relocate my track bar while letting me rest easy at night. Thought about welding up something but then found the RC one so cheap it was a no-brainer.

Just replaced mine. Got my T-Bar from CSK/Oreiley Auto Parts for $55. Didn't even come with a Zerk Fitting or Cotter Pin, had to go back and get my way with them!

PB Blaster, 15mm Socket, 19mm Wrench, NN Pliers, Pickle Fork and a Hammer! Started with the Cotter Pin and 19mm nut at the Frame Mount and just worked down from there. Got under the Ball Joint with a Pickle Fork and tapped once or twice and it fell right out. Took about 20 minutes. Had to start it up and have someone turn the Steering Wheel back and forth to get the bolt at the Bushing to line up.

STILL can't get the Cotter Pin back in!!!

At least it steers ALOT better and that annoying "POP" went away!

Wouldn't really recommend this generic version, but the next step-up would be the Moog at $122!

Might as well get an adjustable Track Bar From JKS or RE, ya know?

If you are only going with a 3" lift get the JKS trac bar #OGS126 it is for 1" to 3.5" of lift, its what I am running.

Would this work for now? I'm most likely going to buy a second new less rusty XJ and transfer my upgrades and install a lift this summer...but thats what I said last summer...
