Default Darn loose intake bolts!!!!

Well dads XJ wasn't runnin right for a couple days. It would idle rough and no accel... Replaced fuel filter, checked injectors, fuel pressure, everything! And it all checked out! Then thought maybe since there's an exhaust leak the gasket might be torn.. So I decided to remove intake and exhaust and look at the gasket... I started at the front and worked my way towards the back removing the bolts... Last bolt on top(close to intake) was loose... Once the exhaust and intake were removed I found the first and last exhaust bolt were actually snapped off In the head(yay). Drilled the first bolt, installed an easy out and snapped that off... Since we couldn't get the easy out out after that we made the decision to just take the head off and have machine shop deal with it... This is our only running vehicle at the time(well when it was running) so we had to get it goin again. Got the head back this mornin and my pops installed it while I was at work(he's self employed) and had it done and back together by the time I got home. Still wasn't running right, I took it around the block a couple times and it started running smoother and smoother. Finally after 3 LONG days of worrying how he can get to work we got his jeep Back on the road! Glad I got the exhaust leak fixed but sure wish I would checked all the intake bolts first!!! Grrrrr!!!! Woulda been a nice 30second fix.

It's always the last bolt you remove that was loose, lol. Glad you got it fixed!

Whenever we did the 30,000 tune up on the 4.0s at the dealership, we checked the intake bolts and snugged them up. Only needed to do it once though. At 60,000 and on, they were tight.

Only if you put 30,000 miles on it.
