Default danna 44 or dana 35?

So i found a d44 in a 91 xj that I snagged, so my question is, will this worth while to put in my 96? should I put some reinforcment welds aor trusses on it? Also I am going to put a RC 4.5 lift on my auto 96 xj, with 31 10.50 15's do I need to re gear?it has 3.55's in it right now.

If you found it under a 91 it was either swapped by a previous owner, not a 91, or it's not a D44. The D44 was only available from 87-89. If it is a D44, then there should be no need for additional mods if you are only going to run 31s. The gearing will be fine as long as you currently have 3.55s as well. Post some pics of it.

well the diff cover is kind of angular has 10 bolts and has a steel fill plug, so I believe it is a 44.

The only one I am aware of that has a metal fill plug is the 44. Take a pic.
