yeah i worded that poorly i meant the yoke sticks out a few inches more from center of axle than the thirty five...

Depending on how much lift you have you may have to have the shaft shortened or go ahead and get a SYE and CV shaft.

i have 4.5" and "they" say that the lift and lenght difference counter eachother another thing too is the splitter block for the break lines on the diff is mounted and vented differently on the earlier 44 the lines still hook up but the whole in the block is far bigger than the bolt on the 44

As long as you can tighten a nut on it you should be fine. I welded a bolt to the tube on my 60 because the vent was on the other side.

I take it you are swapping out a D35 for the XJ D44? I wonder if i will have the same issue going from my 8.25 to the XJ D44 then... I still haven't done the swap. i am cleaning up and rebuilding the D44 first, heh.

from what others have mentioned, if going from the chrysler to the D44, drive shaft is same, it is the D35 to D44 that it is longer... I guess I may "luck out" on that aspect of it. I am more curious about the e-brake cables now, going from the chrysler to D44... does anyone know?
