Default Dana 44 swap into a 2000 xj, ABS ?

So this may be a dumb question but i have found a good used dana 44 out of a 88xj, stock, drum to drum. Just wondering how hard it is to swap into my 2000 XJ, also i plead ignorance that i do not know what rear end it has now, nor am i sure if it has abs or not.

It is not hard to swap at all, there is a good chance you have an 8.25,best way to tell is to measure the axle tube and see if it is 3" dia if it is 2-3/4 it is a d35. If you have abs also it will be a d35 and have wires going to the tone rings on the wheel.
A couple of issues to make sure of is ratio, make sure it is compatible with your front diff, also your axle tubes depending on what size they are you may need new u-bolts,and last it is possible you would need a different driveshaft again depending on what axle you have now.
