Default dana 44 questions

I found a dana 44 on a waggie at pcknpull. Is it worth my time and money to pull it clean it and sell it? Or if I get lucky and the gearing is the same put it under my rig :P I'm not sure what year it is. Also there is a hole punched in the side so id need to replace the cover. Inside looks good, but the oil had never been changed and stank like **** haha.

If its a wagoneer (XJ version) and its a auto its more then likely 3:54 (yes it will work with 3:55 gears).
Anyways WOW $200.00, im amazed at the prices at some pick and pull yards in different states. I pulled a XJ Dana 44 from u pull our parts out of a 1987 Wagoneer with drive shaft, u bolt perches, for $95.00. I replaced the cover and sold it to the first guy out for $250.00. I had a dozen more calls before I deleted the ad.

Yeah its unfortunate how marked up it is, and there's no real junkyards either so everything is all bloated. sale ends tomorrow and ill be busy and ill funded. I don't have a need for it with my 31's but it was exciting to find haha

Hmm...Idk..id say 250 at tops for one thats gonna need some cash to sell it. I did drive a couple hours to get mine so tack on another 30 bucks on mine. If you built it you could sell it for an arm and a leg.

My buddy and I just went to pick-n-pull yesterday so he could get a couple coil hold down clips. We did our usual looking under the rear of every XJ on the lot. We found a 87 with a Dana 44 and spent an hour pulling it. Started at $250 but he declined the 1 year warranty and ended up paying $200 + tax.

I would say if you're going to use it yourself then go for it. Don't pull it just to sell. Leave it for somebody else.

you won't make much money for that price.
you'll just end up sitting on it for a while, then selling it at a loss.

even tho they're a hard axle to find, i'd still pass.

i bought a few and the most i ever paid for one was 175 bux. the last one i got for 100 with drive shaft and rollers.
