Any Dana 30 from another XJ would swap right in. Shouldn't be too hard to find at your local JY. Make sure you get a HP Dana 30 though.

make sure it has the same gear ratio
and look for 92 and up to avoid the vacuum disconnect

What you really want to look for is a 96-99 xj hp30 they have the stronger axel joints and they come with the 3.55 gear like most did.

definitly get a 91-99 axle, although there are some differences throughout the years.

i got one out of what was said to be a 93 but it has different knuckles for the calipers.

for you i would go with 96-99

Good point there, if you have an auto tranny, make sure to grab a front axle out of an XJ that also has an auto tranny. And if you have a manual, grab one out of a manual. The gear ratios are different.

93-98 ZJs have a coil spring Dana 30 as well but they're low pinion like the 2000+ XJs. All TJs came with a low-pinion D30 up front that's a direct swap too, save for the Rubicon package with a D44. The likelihood of getting your hands on a Rubi D44 for cheap is pretty slim though.

IIRC the later XJs have stronger U-Joints, I wouldn't be surprised if a D30 from a V8 ZJ had them as well. But again, everything aside from the XJ is low pinion.
