Default this a d35?

its on my 87 waggy. Seems pretty stout and I know it has been rebuilt within the last year.

Id say a 8.25 with the long flat top and bottom. But I'm no expert by any means.

An 87 would not come with an 8.25 and thats definitely a d35. I think its a non c clipped one though by the year and the screw in fill plug. So its slightly less worse than a regular 35

it is in fact a d35 non c-clip.

too bad you didn't have the d44, the only other stock axle available in 87.
