d30 axle questions
whats the difference between the high pinion reverse cut dif they used from 96 to 99 and the low pinion standard cut one that was used in 00-01? im kinda new to solid axles and jeeps in general. main reason im asking this is because i have a 00 and i was trying to use the transfer case and front drive shaft from a 96 with my lift because it has a sye already installed. wondering if this will work with ok the newer axle? im guessing since its lifted i would want the high pinion from the 96

Yes, you want the HP.
It brings the pinion gear up towards the top if the ring gear, allowing for more contact of the teeth, as well as higher clearance under the truck.
Imagine drawing a circle with a line horizontally through the middle. That's a basic low pinion design. Now take that same circle and line, only place the line through the top 1/4 of the circle. That's the basic design of a HP setup.
