CV joints or transfer case?
I have a 99 XJ standard trans. Im not sure whats the problem with the 4wd but I believe its either the U-joints or the transfer case. It drives fine in 2WD. When placed in 4 wd (I did this in loose wet gravel) it will drive ok in straight line if i dont give it too much gas. When i give it a good amt of gas starting off in straight line something in the drive train makes a very loud clicking noise like metal on metal as if gears are rubbing past each other stripped. I cant make the front wheels spin at all, it just clicks. When turing the steering wheel there is a loud popping sound and if you visualize the trans case when this is occurring it is moving back and forth with the popping sound.
Any input on what is the problem is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Adden: I have U-joints, not CV jointd

I've had a similar problem... first thing I would do is to check your u-joints for play. Start simple. Then maybe replace your tc fluid while checking out the tc chain. This is the extent of what I know.
