cv driveshaft
forgive my ignorance but what is the harm in skipping the sye and just throwing a front xj cv shaft on the rear?

How would you attach the transfer case end of the drive shaft to the transfer case? Alot of people use a stock front shaft for the rear once a sye is installed. Hence the name Slip yoke eliminator. The yoke that inserts into the t-case is eliminated and a bolt on flage is attached to the input shaft of the t-case. There is a modified version using a slip yoke and a hack n tap kit that is shown on the gojeep website.

just like it sits in the front. the double joint to the slip yoke and the the other end to the rear axle. just as it is the U joints are all one size on the driveline i do believe.
i understand using a sye or hack and tap im just questioning why? why not only change the drive shaft seeing how that appears to be the desired end result by shortening the rear TC shaft.

If you are asking what I think your asking, can you just take a rear drive shaft and throw a double cardan joint on it? Yes you can. Why won't that work? It said the downward force on the slip yoke will cause you vibrations anyway and its useless.

that was the answer i was looking for. so even with a cv shaft the slip yoke is too long and will have downward force applied to it causing vibrations.

plus i dont think its safe or smart to run a slip yoke on the output shaft of the t-case, plus the slip joint in the driveshaft itself. seems like it would be fairly easy for the drive shaft to pop off and turn into a pole vault
