Default CV AXLES

Hello to ALL!!
I need help, I need to replace my front CV axles on my 1995 Grand Cherokee all wheel drive 5.2L. I saw a video on youtube on this matter. What I'm not clear on is the following.... After you remove the caliper, disk brake rotor and wheel bearing assembly..YOU pull out the axle; when you do this how come the oil from the differential does not come pouring out??? How is the differential oil contained inside? Is there not a seal that needs to be replaced inside? How is the spline of the axle supposed to engage once you push it back in? Please help. All my questions apply for left and right side axles. THANK YOU..THANK YOU TO ALL!!

I will answer your questions in order

1. sometimes fluid does come out, you may as well drain the fluid anyways and replace it.

2. Yes, there is a seal on each side of the pumpkin that can, and (depending on mileage) may need to be replaced. The seals themselves are cheap, but to change them you have to pull the ring gear and carrier out of the pumpkin.

3. The splines on the axle will slide into the splines in the spider gears as you are pushing it in, just be careful and try not to damage your seals in the process.
