cut too much fender

Question cut too much fender

so i started to trim my fenders today and i used the top of my stock fender flares as my guide. i wanted to cut alot off cuz im goin to have 33 on a 2.5 inch lift. i need to close the gap from the inner wheelwel and the outside fender i will have a pic posted later. please need advice and ideas.

Let's see it! But if all else fails junk yards have a ton of XJs u can get the fenders off for cheap or look into local companys that stamp metal (interstate auto SLC, UT) CHEAP!!!

you can never cut too much.

if it rubs, keep cutting.

So wait...is this the front fender or rear? You can trim a LOT of material off the front fenders and not have problems. It's the rears you really need to be careful with.

good point, but still nothing a welder and some scrap tin can't fix.

its rhe rear i have about a 2 inch gap to fill now and im wondering if i should refab a new wheelwel in the rear or just fill in with some scrap metal?

gonna need that welded, and done correctly. otherwise your jeep is gonna fall apart. literally.

i dont see how it would fall apart but i know it needs to be sealed to prevent bad rust and looking like crap

at this point, i would cut the inner fender and refab new wheel wells with either some flat sheet bent up, or get creative an use something like barrels or wheel tubs or something and weld that in.

now's your chance to be able to fit 38's at stock height. lol.

As a unibody, having your inner wheel wells separated from the outside of the vehicle compromises the strength of your body. If you can weld, get some sheetmetal and bridge the gap ASAP. Don't drive the vehicle until you do. If you can't weld...find someone who can.
