Better front end, worse tail lights imo. Far better interior, a 29 spline 8.25 rear axle which unless you rock climb will suite all of your needs. Full windowed front doors. Better seats! Cant think of anything else but those are all the big things you can get from the factory.

so later on down the road when I lift it should I switch the rear? Any difference in the tranny or t-case from the 97's to the 01's? Also someone said the 97 country has the 6 speaker infinity sound system but I only count 4 speakers

Check under your rear seat, if there is a amp you have the infinity system. The rear end is good to go, you shouldnt ever need anything stronger. Unless you have a manual there is no benefit tranny or t case wise to having a newer or older xj.

Many people wish they had your 8.25 ear axle instead of the Dana 35. Be happy with it! Unless you're going really huge then it should suit your needs nicely. You also have cup holders standard! Lets see some photos! Heres my 97. Sitting 4.5" up on 33s. Andbyes I know its such a mall Crawler shot.
