Post Cruise controll question.

I know that some of the XJ's are prewired to equip cruise controll. How would I check to see if I have the remaining Equipment for this as well? Thinking about trying to install if I can get away from starting from absolute scratch.

If you have a 2001 then all you need is the clock spring which is under the steering wheel, the switches that are on the steering wheel and the servo that is under the hood. It bolts up on the inner fenderwell near the battery. It's cable then crosses the valve cover and runs through a bracket (already there) and pops onto a stud already on your throttle lever. All the wiring is there. You just plug in the servo to the plug that sits between the battery and fenderwell. The clock spring has the same plugs as the one without the cruise.
You may already have the clock spring. Take the airbag off the wheel. You've disconnected the battery right? See first picture.
You will see a black wire for the horn and a yellow plug for the air bag. If you have another green plug then you already have the clock spring.
Lucky you! If not then you have to get one from the bone yard or flea-bay.
Real simple to install and only took me an hour puling from one vehicle and installing on my 2000. A steering wheel puller came in real handy. DON"T get rammy as you will break the tabs that hold it on. They are located on the back at 6 and 12 in the picture. Pull the bottom one first.
Parts are the same from 97 to 2001. Earlier years (91-96) have problems with switches being different from year to year.
