cruise control
1992 cherokee 4.0 - I can't get my cruise to work it has not worked since i have bought it. I need to know what all I need to check, I was told that the nutrael safety switch had been bypassed, don't know if that would have anything to do with it or not. I don't see any vacuum leaks and the fuses are good.

95% sure it's gonna be the cruise/turn "stalk" wires. My 92 cruise never worked until I fixed the 4 wires from the switch..
I used a USB cable from a printer. Pull the turn signal stalk straight out. They just pull out. After pulling it out, you will notice the broken little wires. I soldered a piece of the USB cable with wires to the 4 broken wires from the steering stalk to the column. Do NOT pull the wires out of the steering column unless you run a chase wire with them. There is NO way to re-run them once they get pulled out.
Anywho, guarantee that it's the little wires. Happens on ALL GM cars with that same setup. Brand new replacement stalk/wires are at Advance Auto for 50 bux. Any 80-90s GM car will have the same setup. I snagged a bling Cadillac one for my XJ from the boneyard for 4 bux. The newer stalks have a handy plug so you can just swap it out next time it breaks. And it will..
