It is irritating to say the least with the issues that we are having! Once I get my airbag module in and if that doesn't work, I am loading the screaming indian up on my car hauler and take it to a Chrysler mechanic over in Moorefield WVa. He does work on the side so I that will save me some money so I don't have to take it to the dealership and pay them to check what I have already checked.
It's one of those deals where I have to much in it to part it out but, don't want to spend thousands in getting it fixed.
I will keep you updated on what he finds so maybe that will help you out on resolving your issue as well! I will probably take it over next weekend and drop it off it all goes well!
I hope you get yours fixed soon..

Hey Thanks, I actually went over to the dealer while buying parts and asked around if anybody worked on the side but the service manager got a little annoyed ..I am pretty sure some of those guys do side work.. My brother took his car to nissan and the service manager hooked him up with a guy who works at the dealer that not only did side work but did it in the building after hours
?? and reasonable also, The service manager seems like one of those guys that wants you to know he is the boss?? I live in long island ,N.Y. otherwise I would be bringing it also lol.. but thanks good luck and let me know what they come up with, if I find anything I will let you know also hope it is a cheap fix.. Bill

Also I am surprised that their is not a simple solution for this as the more I read it seem`s like a lot of people have this problem?? I have been getting great tip`s and advice from guy`s on the site and I do appreciate them all.. It just seem`s that their must be some common factor that is shared by all who go through this type of problem?? Please don`t misunderstand me I am great full for all the help and from some very knowledgeable people I just don`t get it?? The more I read about these problems the more I see people have expierenced strange electrical quirks?? So frustrating there must be a common factor somewhere.. ??

Maybe just grabbing at straws here, but have you tried replacing the ignition switch? lol
Hope you figure this out without parting out.. Seems like the mother of all electrical problems

Did you resolve the overcharging issue yet? I had a similar prob. with a vehicle other than my Cherokee (1996 Chevy P/U ,also an OBDII vehicle) that was ground related . After looking at my Cherokee, I noticed that the ECM appears to be isolated from ground. Are you able to measure any voltage between the aluminum case of the control module and the negative terminal on the battery with the engine running? When I had issues with the truck, I found a corroded braided ground wire that was "floating" 2 volts above ground, hence the overcharging issue as well as gauge problems and IAC problem as well. I'll check my Cherokee when I get home with a voltmeter and let you know the readings

Hi Everybody Bill here again this time with some positive news. First off I really want to say thanks to all that sent me the tip`s and advice on repair`s .. A special Thanks to CCKEN for all his advice and wiring diagram`s and pushing me to stay with and also prcherokee for his donation lol!!, Anyway the good news is I am 99% sure that the cherokee is finally fixed and up and running!! I believe that I really had two issue`s going at once I am really not sure which repair actually fixed it all the way but what we did was went back over the grounds for about the 5th time and checked and rechecked everything ., cleaned tug on the wires everything and made sure all contacts were 100%.. Then my buddie whose was helping me and a really good mechanic found a bad connection or pin in the gray plug that goes into the pcm he repaired them and everything seem`s to be working as it should be!!! . No more relay`s clicking or fan running when you turn key to run position,.(pretty sure it was a blue wire /white stripe on bottom row of gray plug closest to white plug? ) Unfortunetly now the pcm is communicating with the scanner and throwing a code but simple just the downstream 02 sensor (p0138) I think I have to check it again.. I appreciate everybody`s help and advice I was ready to sell it as a parts car or part it but glad I was pushed to keep going.. I am going to do a few more things like valve cover gasket ,belt go over brakes but I am pretty sure all the wiring issue`s are solved Thanks again to all 7
