.

It's because your engine is all clapped out!
PERIOD!

I had the same problem when I got my Cherokee. Lots of oil in the air cleaner all the time.

Like I told you a LONG time ago.............. the 2.5L is barely enough power for these rigs, and they get ran really really hard in their life.
All the performance mods in the world are not going to help you obtain unobtanium results, with an engine that is on it.s last legs.
Your an idiot to think otherwise.

Take it from someone that also deals with this mini engine.

Think you can tackle a 2.5L that has been built with performance mods?
I am still dealing with the ramifications of a stroked motor. Different MAP sensors, Different fuel regulator, moving LOTS of parts around.
Just cause you can buy a performance engine does not mean you can get it running right.

And more than likely this WILL NOT HELP YOU.
This is what cruiser was talking about with the mod to the valve cover. (Thanks cruiser it works)

Dusty, you've been following Pineapple Tree's threads closer than I have and for a longer time.
It's your belief that his engine is shot and trimming the flutes will likely not help at this point?

I wouldn’t say so myself. I actually don’t burn much oil, and it seems whatever oil I collect in my catch can is what i’ve lost.

I decided to try some synthetic blend oil, and I’ve noticed that my oil consumption is up and that my engine seems a little more noisy than before. So i’ll see if I get less oil in my catch can when I switch back to conventional 10w30. Before that, I used to go 3k without burning/loosing half a quart before changing the oil.

Anyway, i’m wanting to try that flute trimming when I put in my Harland Sharp roller rockers. I’ll probably have to trim them anyway to get the rockers to clear, so why not, right?
