Crank and no start!
I have a 1997 Jeep XJ.For about 2 days I noticed my jeep would sputter or sort of back fire while driving. It leaks oil so I filled it back up again when I got home that day. Went to a friends house and a couple hours later when I went to start it, it just cranked and cranked. I waited about 5 min and tried again. It started then stalled immediately after. Then every time I tried to start it again after that it would just crank. I've replaced the distributor cap, rotor, and coil. The plugs aren't too old. And the wires are good. That didn't help. So I ran the computer and the code P0320 came up. Which is the crankshaft position sensor. I went ahead and replaced that as well. Still no luck. I have fuel and I have spark. What is happening??

Here is a link to the thread. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/cps...ortant-195487/
I am not an expert and it could be something else but this is just some food for thought. Sure sounds like the CPS especially after getting a code for it.
CPS TESTING PROCEDURE 1991 – 2001 4.0L H.O. engines
1. Near the rear of intake manifold, disconnect sensor pigtail harness connector from main wiring harness.
2. Place an ohmmeter across terminals B and C (A-B-C looking into connector left to right with the part with the notch in the middle on the right) Ohmmeter should be set to 1K-to-1OK scale for this test.
3. The meter reading should be open (infinite resistance). Replace sensor if a low resistance is indicated.
