I have a suspected bad CPS. Napa in my area only stocks their premium one for $79.99. Advance auto has one for $83.99 but with a discount code I can get it for $53.99.
I usually tend to go with Napa parts but in this case, is there a huge difference in the parts? Is the Napa worth the extra money in the long run?

If you want to play it safe get an OEM from the dealer. Most of the time the off brand ones are bad right out of the box or sooner or later it will leave you stranded. If southsidecatec said he got 3 years on his aftermarket one he is one of the lucky few.

Hmm. Well it seems the OEM is about the same price as the NAPA premium so I am a firm believer in not going cheap on parts especially a part that could keep the jeep from starting. I didn't realize that aftermarket on those could be that temperamental.

They sure can be!!! Anyone that has replaced them on there jeep would recommend the OEM over after markets one. Our Jeeps hate after market sensors of any kind. Those are the main parts that I would always recommend to get from the dealer.

Good to know, thanks again. I'll be picking up an OEM one a little later today.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I need it fixed today and can't wait for a part to be shipped.

NAPA makes some pretty good stuff. Most people who have problems with other store fan clutches, oil pressure senders, etc. can go to NAPA and their problems end. While I agree with RTorrex1, in this case I would probably buy the NAPA Echlon unless the dealer is open and has the part on the shelf.

The secret is to buy TWO. Early on in my XJ life I replaced my failed CPS with a Duralast ($28.95) from AutoZone. Then I read what a nightmare they were and how it would fail immediately so I bought another from the dealer for $70 and tossed it under the rear seat. 3 years later... it's still in the box under my rear seat.
My theory is that they only fail if they get the satisfaction of leaving you stranded. Apparently, my AutoZone CPS knows I have a spare, making failure less satisfying and ultimately, pointless. That's my theory, anyway.

Count me as another lucky one. I have one from Advance that I put in while diagnosing a different problem. The OEM one rides with me but I haven't had an issue with the BWD (I think that's the brand) it in 2 years.
