Default crank but no start

Alright... ive been having this problem intermitently for about a month now...

about a month ago i went to start my 94 jeep (straight 6) and it wouldnt start till the 3rd or 4th try.. the next morning i changed the plugs wires cap rotor and coil and it was fine for awhile. then one day it died on my way to work. after sitting messing with it for about 45 minutes it refired and was fine for the rest of the day.

now occasionally it will either die while driving or just flat out not start. we checked fuel pressure and it is right where it should be. we checked spark and i do have it. the weird thing is sometimes when you pull one of the plug wires off the plug it will fire.

ive checked all my fuses and connections and cant seem to find anything loose or blown fuses....

any ideas on what this may be? i greatly appreciate your help!

Do you have spark all the time? My 94 XJ had a burned camshaft sensor (not crankshaft) and gave me spark on occation until finally it just wouldn't start. Gave me error code 54. What codes are you getting?

That's what mine was doing, also started better when cold but refusing when hot. Have you tried the codes (using ignition-off-ignition-off 4 times)? In my case I got 12 (which is battery removed last 50 ignitions or so) and 54 which is the camshaft sensor in the distributor housing (easy to replace), codes end with 55 (done).

I remember an old mechanic friend of mine using that for a year for the crank position sensor. For some reason when he pulled a plug wire and grounded it to the block and the engine fired he said it was a bad ckp sensor. Just remembered that....

checked my codes, came back with 11 and 12 then 55.

11 is: No ignition reference signal detected during cranking (bad hall effect) OR timing belt skipped one or more teeth; or intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor

12: Memory Standby power lost (Batt or computer recently disconnected)

55: end of codes

changed the pickup coil, turned the key, truck just cranks and cranks.... unplugged one of the sparkplug wires and truck fires right up. shut it off reconnected the plug wire and it starts fine... code 11 says it could also be the crank sensor or the timing is off.... but im getting tired of throwing parts at this thing.. anyone have any ideas?

this is about how im feeling now --->
