Hi all. What is the correct torque spec for the water pump? I've searched and I see 2 different answers. One thread says 17 ft. lbs, the other says 22 ft. lbs. Which one is correct? I have a 2000, 4.0. Thanks

These are the specs I used for when I did mine on my '00:
17 ft lbs for the water pump
15 ft lbs for the thermostat
20 ft lbs for the pulley.
35 ft lbs for the idler that tightens the belt.
Frankly I don't thing it really matters much but I found them in my FSM and figured why not.

I always put anti-seize on any dissimilar metals, water pump and thermo housing bolts especially
Technically this alters the torque settings, but I think the main thing is even torque on each fastener

I read that with impossibly high torque figures (like FWD hubnuts) if you use antiseize you can 1/2 the figure, whether the math works for much lower values I wouldn't know, but it gives an idea.
Then again, I only torque heads, bottom end bearings - & hubnuts (& before anyone mentions diffs, the need's never arisen).

there are some applications where I am wary of anti-seize, in critical applications if you do not wish it to rotate free, but still prevent thread corrosion, I use a thread sealer or locker
Wheel nuts can be a tricky one to get exactly right with anti-seize
