Correct placement of driver power seat positive wire?
Started to notice that my battery voltage would go down or die after a cuople days. Did some testing and found the couplrt. A red wire that powers the front power seat.
With wire hooked up:
With wire disconnected:
The wires location doesn't look right and was cut and just twisted together with a wire cap.
So anyone know where is the correct placement for this wire or if it is even the OEM wire? Electrical is not my strong suit and I do have all the shop manuals including the wiring diagram manual buy having a hard time finding it. Any help will be nice.
Well, here's the diagram from the '93 fsm if that helps (don't have a '91). Seats should have 12v with key off. Inside the switch, all circuits are normally open so there should be no current draw. That's Fuse #14 in the fuse block if you can't read it.
The '93 FSM also show that red wire plugged into the socket marked BATT in the fuse block (2 over to the left).
Update fixed the wireing problem a cuople of days ago and everything was working fine, no more drain. Was trying to move the seat today but wouldn't move. I retraced my steps and everything was connected correct and no fuses were blown. I then tested the power seats motor with a multimeter and found the motor finally died. Sigh just me luck .
So new question for you guys what is needed to change from power seats to manual ones on my year which is a 91?
Dang!! I hate it when that happens!! Where did you find the source of the drain (for future reference).
You would need a manual seat base. If your pass seat is power too, you'll need both. Pass and Driver side are different. Cushions should just swap over. Some are simple "sliders" (just slide back and forth) and others are "rockers" (slide plus rotate). You can find them all over ebay but are crazy priced. Better off in a salvage yard.
The drain was that it looks like previous owner bypass the original wire and installed the power wire of driver seat to a always on fuse terminal in the fuse box.
For the manual seat base, are they able to move the seat up and down? Or is that something that I also need to get with the base?
