Default Cork residue on oil cap?

A while back I replaced the gasket around the valve cover with a felpro cork one, now I'm afraid that it was a mistake to go cheap; I'm finding tiny particles of what I think is cork on the oil cap (so I assume it's everywhere). Will the motor burn this off (been on for about a month) or will this jam up the hoses and such? Anyone else had this issue with the cork (if that's the culprit)?

I've never even known Fel-Pro to sell cork gaskets. Strange. But I would assume it's everywhere. Whether or not it is horribly harmful I don't know. Typically anything foreign in you engine is not a good thing.

I couldn't get a rubber one on short notice so I thought "Fel Pro are known for quality" but now I'm not so sure, not too happy with the cork stuff floating around in there. So far it doesn't leak tho.

Ive used the cork ones in both my renix jeeps (the first one is the one I used for my writeup) and never had a problem. No stuff floating around and no leaks.

I'm open to suggestions on what it can be, all I know is that it's not metal, the pieces are too soft and are nor magnetic nor shiny.

Looks and sounds like cork to me. I'm thinking maybe the adhesive holding it all together went bad and the gasket is slowly dissolving?

That doesn't sound too good, I'm really hoping the oil filter is holding up. Guess it's time to tear off the valve cover (again) and redo it. Have a leak at the oil filter adaptor so I might as well do it all in one go; filter and adaptor that is.

I looked through some sites for a new rubber gasket but can't figure out which one to get. What's the difference between the Fel Pro VS50458R and the VS50522T? Will both fit a XJ-94 HO i6?

Wonder how the particles get from part of the cap that's under/inside the valve cover, to the part of the cap that's outside the valve cover?????

Good point, I have no idea, the pic is right after I took it off. I tried, with a flashlight, to see if there were any particles floating around in the oil but couldn't see any.
