Ok so I went to check my coolant today after driving for a few and when I popped the cap on the reservoir it was over full so I left it to sit and cool down thinking it was going to go down like its supposed to but after 2.5 hours its still over the full line by enough that I'm now thinking theres a bigger problem here. Any help as always is greatly appreciated.

Bad rad cap, or bottle too full, or both. Cold motor, coolant level should be 1/2 or maybe a little less. Hot motor, 1/2 or a little more.

Did you check to see if it was at that level before you started it? Wait a few hours and check it again, you may just have too much coolant in your system.

Coolant level in the rad should be full to the top, motor COLD.

Make sure the tube between the neck of the rad and the bottle is unplugged. Also make sure the tube down the side of the bottle is unplugged. Again, with a properly functioning rad cap (rad cap is a 2-way valve) and absolutely no cooling system leaks anywhere, coolant level should rise a little (in the bottle) motor hot and fall a little, motor cold.

Bottle must be vented, no pressure/vacuum build-up.

I think this would make a good thread. Everyone post a pic of the same thing. Ive thought about starting one but didn't think tree would be interest. When I replaced my valve cover gasket I was amazed at the cleanliness as well.

What did your coolant bottle look like? My coolant was a really nice and clean green but my bottle was nasty.
