Are the Threads English or Metric? I ask because the Jeep ate one of the bolts. Since the 4 bolts screw into the block, might be English like the bolt fron the PS bracket.
I've been using a 12 pt 13mm socket to remove the pump bolts.
Everything on the motor was english on my 92 and 96 and 01. Take the bolt you removed...if on the head it says 5.5 or 8.8 its metric if it has radial lines on it its english...or try and run a metric nut and an english nut
Good News:
Found the bolt the engine ate, sitting on the steering box, not the usual crash pan.
Bad news:
I have a leak. Thought it was the lower hose clamp, pretty sure that isn't it.
Best guess, pump to block interface. If the gasket is mangled that will tell. Time to take apart again.
Where the shaft goes into the pump, there is a small hole in the casting on the bottom. Behind this is the bearing seals and fluid leaks out here when the shaft seal goes bad. . You cannot easily see it because the pulley kind of overlaps the hole
This post was crucial to my understanding of the root reason for the leak. This is a pic of the bottom of the pump and the relief hole. As stated impossible to see with the drive pulley installed.
I believe I have the leak fixed. Drove into town, on return I gain 500' in elevation, that gives the cooling system a good workout.
I'll run water for a few weeks, then drain and install 50/50.
