Recently I replaced the front pads on my 01 xj. For about 2 weeks they worked fine and had no noise but recently I have noticed that the brakes squale when I let off them. But there is no noise when I am using them is it a install issue or could it be the drums in the back?

Drum brakes often squeak when you let off the pedal. There are 3-4 areas on each shoe where they ride along the backing plate, and if not greased, they'll squeak.
If it's the front, make sure your caliper slide pins are greased, there are no grooves worn in the knuckles, and follow the brake bedding procedure.
