Default Coolant leak 1998 Cherokee.

Well I just got to school for class and I notied that their was a small puddle of coolant by my drivers side front tire. I popped the hood and I noticed it looked like it as leaking from the brass fitting that connects to a steel line just below the fill hole for the radiator. I tried chasing the line back but it disapears under the engine. Does anyone know off the top of their head what the line leads to? I was also wondering if anyone knew what size the fittings are because I could not get a wrench in tight enough to see if it was loose or if the seal was bad at the radiator.

Tranny cooler line. Leaking coolant there probably indicates a new rad is needed.

Thanks I hope I can tighten it up because if I need a new radiator that would be the third defective radiator for this jeep.

The last owner had the factory one replaced for some reason. The replacement went bad and he got another under warranty which went bad a few months after I bought the jeep and I got a new one under warranty. It is green and crusty around the base where it goes into the radiator so it would not surprise me if a new on is needed.

Is that line securely fastened underneath? If not, it could be moving thus placing strain on the connection at the rad. I noticed u r missing a bolt to the left of the rad.

Just got home from class and looked under the jeep the line is not secured at that point. Do you think the driving and bouncing down the road could have caused the leak?

You shouldn't be leaking coolant from there. Like djb383 said that is trans cooler line. It may be leaking near it or around the soldered area and your rad may need to be changed out or repaired. Let us know what you find out.
