According to the manual, on 1984-1992 Jeeps, you can re-pack or re-place the wheel bearings, but on 1993-98 Jeeps, the wheel bearings are an intregal part of the hubs, so if you have to replace a bearing on those year model Jeeps, the whole hub has to be replaced.
If you replace wheel bearings, you also have to replace the races and (of course) the outer & inner bearing seals. Repack the bearing and carrier with lithium-based grease, of course. Don't mix lithium grease and sodium grease. They are not compatible. Don't spin bearings dry with compressed air trying to clean them in the solvent tank, either. Keep them spotlessly clean, place them on clean newspaper and cover them with a clean, dry cloth if you can't reassemble the hub and all its components immediately. Be sure when you're reassembling that you get the bearing races seated solidly square in the bearing carrier.

I just went to advanced auto parts and got two new hub/bearing assy's. Like 75.00 each. I work in the semi truck world and I think that is really cheap. A hub for a big truck is 1,200.00

you can only replace the whole hub unless you have a machine shop. The manual says that you can replace bearings and races but that is for the 2wd models. somewhere is a pic that will save you a bunch of headache in this link from when I did mine. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/fro...ome-off-90032/

I'd rather replace the whole hub. Im not in the mood to repack the bearings. I can do it I just don't like to. Lol. I just wanted to make sure I could replace the hub as a whole on a 87
