Question Compressor Clutch Kit Or Full Compressor

So the clutch bearing in my AC compressor is shot & I only have 2 option & would like to hear the pros & cons of each.

1st; is ordering this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231291390926?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and follow this guys install write up: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/bad-ac-clutch-97572/

2nd, buy a new compressor:
Amazon.com: Valeo 10000544 A/C Compressor: Automotive Amazon.com: Valeo 10000544 A/C Compressor: Automotive
..since I live in VA, HOT), & since its not much more in price, it's an easy swap. Then id fill it with AC PRO, which worked very well on my other car. Yes ill try to get the system vacuumed even tho it may not needed. I will replace O-rings but I may not need to.

Thanks For The Help!!

So, you say the whole unit is not much more than the clutch kit!?

in case you want to tackle the job yourself, here a reasonable vid on the job (not per se Jeep)

Lmao... I watched that same vid myself. He was able to take his pully off very easy, but my research says id need a puller & also will need to heat it up to get the bearing out. Guess ill give it a shot since its cheaper & the compressor works well.

If you do change out the entire compressor. You WILL need to have a vacuum pulled on the system. Plus you will also need to add the correct type of oil and correct amount of oil to the system or you will end up seizing the new compressor. Also like freegdr said."Gonna have to install Dryer also for warranty on compressor". If you take a look at the paper work for the new compressor it will tell you all the parts that need to be replaced to keep your warranty. Personally, If I knew for a fact that the compressor is fine I would just replace the fan clutch and be done with it. Keep us updated.

I faced the same question a couple of months back. In the end the new compressor wasn't much more than the clutch kit and I could be sure that the clutch would definitely fit so I bit the bullet. My system still had pressure so I didn't bother with the dryer. The correct amount of oil was added to compensate for what was lost with the compressor. OK so far!
I like the look of the shiny new compressor in the engine bay

You voided your warranty on the new compressor by not installing a new dryer and expansion valve (or orifice) at the time of install.

True, but I never really put much store by a warranty from an ebay supplier.
